Overview:
Lead Software Innovation at Revvity. We are seeking an accomplished Software Engineer Manager to join our team in Akron, OH. This pivotal role will drive the performance and productivity of our Software Engineering team, delivering impactful technical solutions across multiple projects and ongoing customer support.
The ideal candidate will excel in leadership, possess strong technical acumen, and demonstrate a proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions. You will be responsible for fostering a culture of innovation, efficiency, and continuous improvement within the team.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Essential Functions: Efficient and effective management of the team, meeting or exceeding customer expectations, specifically including:
- Establish overall direction and provide clear expectations for the team
- Provide escalation point for internal project priority resolution
- Proactively manage interpersonal conflict resolution
- Foster an environment that encourages teamwork and collaboration
- Develop and lead effective team meetings
- Mentor and coach all team members
- Use motivational, development and performance coaching strategies
- Conduct performance appraisals including but not limited to the current, corporate annual review process
- Foster career development for all team members. This includes career advancement (promotional opportunities or lateral moves within the organization to gain additional skills) along with continual development of the knowledge and skills required for their existing position.
- Oversee the human resource needs of the team
- Manage the hiring process for new employees as well as consultants and temporary hires
- Perform salary reviews and distribute team bonuses as appropriate
- Approve PTO requests, expense reports, and travel schedules for direct reports
- Continually review and improve team processes and project turnaround times
- Manage projects as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree AND
- 5 years of experience in software engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Experience and ability to handle leadership tasks defined
- Consistently deliver what’s promised on time, proactively provide status reports, and independently manage projects from inception through completion with minimal supervisory guidance
- Strong negotiation and conflict management skills
- Excellent written oral and communication skills
Working Conditions
- The position requires a willingness to travel frequently - up to 30% travel domestic and international.
- General office atmosphere and laboratory environment workspace.
- Customer laboratories will include biological sample material.
