This position is a member of the Product Development Team and is specifically responsible for design, performance and interpretation of experiments in support of Revvity’s product development workstream under supervision from their line manager.

They will ensure that the experiments are well organised and show responsibility in organising equipment time, equipment availability, lab space and general aspects of the experimental design to allow the results to be generated in a timely manner.

Show a level of autonomy in terms of experiment preparation, maximising your time and ensuring that their time is used wisely between projects

Ensure that all data/experiments/reports/Lab book are created and kept in the correct manner as expected by Revvity

Management of their own time to deliver what is required is a must Full time lab based role

Overall responsibilities:

  • Acting as a functional member of workstreams within the Revvity’s project management system.  

  • May have to undertake occasional supervision of new members of the team

  • Carry out routine laboratory testing.

  • Demonstrate the ability to aid other departments including regulatory and quality, specifically on development projects.

  • Will take an active part in project meeting and show a level of understanding for the development projects which includes experiment design as required plus project direction choices.

  • Must be able to generate data independently and be able to defend it to other members of the team.

  • Produce and present reports to both the development team and the wider Revvity family

Specific deliverables for the role are:

  • Conduct and record keeping of experiments as defined by workstreams and ensuring that work is completed to agreed timelines.

  • Ensuring that any likely delays or issues with a given project are communicated to their supervisor in a timely manner.

  • Travelling to internal and external sites at short notice to ensure project milestones are met.

  • Prioritising workload to ensure key objectives agreed with supervisor.

  • Ensuring laboratory equipment is maintained and calibrated.

  • Presenting data at internal meetings as required.

  • Ensuring that projects are carried out in accordance with the Company’s Quality Management System and to the required Regulatory standards.

  • Ensuring that conclusions written in experimental reports reflect the data presented and reports are of high quality.

  • When required, operate as a scientist in support of all projects within the development department, ensuring that the Quality Management System, including ISO 13485:2016, and ISO 17025:2005, is adhered to at all times and in all aspects of the job.

  • Carrying out literature reviews to a high standard.

Profile Of Candidate:

Desirable Technical skills and abilities

  • An understanding of the diagnostic and pharmaceutical industries

  • Knowledge of either assay development or molecular diagnostics

  • Some flow cytometry experience

  • Familiarity with Quality System concepts and requirements including GMP and ISO systems.

  • Committed laboratory scientist, spending the majority of their working time in a lab environment.

Essential Technical skills and abilities

  • At least a BSc Degree or Equivalent in a life sciences subject, preferably Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Immunology or Biology

  • Experience of T Cell/Antibody technology

  • ELISPOT experience

  • Working knowledge of ELISA

  • Flow cytometry

  • Problem solving experience.

  • Cell culture

  • Critical assessment of data

  • Knowledge of cell activation

  • Knowledge of Windows and Office bases applications; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Technical skills and abilities that would be advantageous

  • Cell isolation

  • Assay development knowledge

  • Flow Cytometry knowledge

  • Fluorospot

  • Cell culture experience

Emotional skills and abilities

  • Capable of handling multiple tasks at the same time.

  • Capable of working effectively in a team environment.

  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels.

  • Ability to adapt to changing project priorities  

  • Must be able to manage their own time and take direction from their line manager in a professional manner.
