Job Summary

The Mimix R&D team designs and develops genetically defined, human genomic reference standards. These standards offer a sustainable source of reference material to laboratories, proficiency schemes, and manufacturers, and provide an unprecedented level of control to the molecular pathology community. The availability of genetically defined reference standards provides an industry standard for development and quality control of molecular assays, directly improving their accuracy.

We have an opportunity for an ambitious Scientist to join our Mimix Research and Development Group and make their mark in the development of the next wave of diagnostic products and services, from ideation to feasibility and transfer to manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and development of new and existing product lines.

  • Design and execute experiments, analyse data and present results.

  • Document experimental plans and results in accordance with product development and quality system regulations.

  • Contribute to feasibility reports, white papers and Application notes.

  • Draft paperwork and processes (SOPs).

  • Work with business development (BD), manufacturing and QA to deliver high quality, robust and well characterised products.

  • Supply information to Marketing and BD for product launch activities.

Essential Competencies & Requirements

  • PhD preferred, or BSc/MSc with industry experience.

  • Strong biochemistry and molecular biology skills especially around, but not limited to, DNA and RNA, sequencing and preferably experience in genetics.

  • A highly motivated, detailed individual with the proven ability to think innovatively toward solving problems effectively and efficiently.

  • You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, team environment and on multiple projects with constantly changing priorities and deadlines. The successful candidate will be well organized, self-motivated and have excellent communication skills, attention to detail and a can-do attitude.
