Revvity seeks a creative scientist with expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS) and library preparation techniques. This role focuses on automating library preparation protocols on our novel NGS sample preparation platform.  The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently and collaboratively with a diverse team, including customers, engineers, and academic partners.  This role will expand our product offering by development of new assay workflows, providing application and technical support, creating scientific materials, attending industry conferences and supporting marketing initiatives. 

Job Summary & Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and optimize low throughput automated library preparation assays
  • Convert manual library preparation protocols into automated solutions, including new NGS library prep workflow chemistries
  • Conduct design of experiments to validate and troubleshoot assay performance
  • Performing sample extraction, library preparation and sequencing for genomic, transcriptomic and metagenomic projects
  • Stay current with NGS technology advancements and assay development best practices
  • Provide technical support to internal teams and external partners / customers
  • Prepare validation reports and technical documentation
  • Lead technical transfer of NGS assays from R&D to a production state in manufacturing

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in a life sciences discipline
  • 2 + years in designing, executing, and troubleshooting NGS based experiments

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D with 5 + years of relevant NGS experience
  • Experience programming automation for NGS library preparation. 
  • Experience transferring assays to manufacturing scaleup and production
  • Proficient in molecular biology techniques like PCR and library preparation
  • Strong understanding of NGS and multi-omic technologies
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with liquid handling instrumentation
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency programming in Python or a similar language
  • Bioinformatics experience

Physical Requirements & Expectations:

  • Travel requirement 5-10%
