Summary:
The primary responsibilities of this position include leading various Diagnostic and Life Science instrument commodities globally, partnering with the manufacturing sites, R&D and business leaders to provide strategic sourcing expertise for both day-to-day operations and product road map planning. In addition, supporting the sourcing team with the OEM commodity, PCs, and fluidics.
This role will focus on developing the global preferred supplier network, driving major material related productivity projects, building strategic alliances with existing suppliers and identifying new suppliers. Partnering with site procurement teams to drive supplier performance and cultivate redundancy and resiliency across our instrument supply chain.
The successful candidate will possess and demonstrate a deep understanding of strategic supplier management within the context of both OEM and manufacturing environments and be able to source and evaluate global suppliers and their capabilities. The position requires excellent people skills, ability to work closely with our internal teams and external suppliers, to be recognized by their peers as a leader. Thinking outside the box and challenging current processes is expected and encouraged to accelerate new product introduction.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Sourcing and Procurement Process. Develop, implement, and execute procurement strategy, process, and policies.
- Cost Savings. Ability to identify Total Cost of Ownership opportunities and execute negotiations, projects, and sourcing activities to deliver continuous cost savings.
- Supply Assurance. Responsible for supply chain resilience of reagents for revenue protection.
- Identifying Key Suppliers. Reviewing and analyzing current suppliers and identifying and making recommendations based on technology.
- Risk Management. Defining concepts for risk and contract management and driving activities which include risk reduction, implementation of alternative sources
- Supplier Management. Organising regular business reviews to continuously rate the suppliers on defined KPI’s (supply chain performance, quality, cost competitiveness and technology road map) to monitor suppliers’ operations and to define measures to develop the suppliers.
- New Product Introduction. Partnering with R&D and manufacturing to support projects from pilot development through full-scale manufacturing in both regulated and non-regulated production facilities and participating in M&A and due diligence projects to advise stakeholders of technical opportunities and risks within the supply chain. Identifies opportunities to leverage supplier capabilities or insource.
- Driving Process Improvement Initiatives. In conjunction with business units and global procurement organization, identifying opportunities for supply chain improvements, vertical integration and insourcing that will deeply impact growth, customer satisfaction and quality improvements across the organization.
- Data Analysis. Compiles spend data by site, supplier and technology and recommends ways to maximize or optimize spend.
- Technical Acumen. Maintaining a deep understanding of fluidics commodity and the validation plans to evaluation alternative vendors and materials.
- Safety and Regulations. Developing and maintaining processes and methods that comply with all safety, ISO / regulatory, and company requirements/guidelines, in support of local, state and federal safety standards.

Basic Qualifications:
- BS in Engineering, Supply Chain or a related engineering discipline
- 3 or more years of experience working with OEM products
- 3 or more years of experience in a biotech organization
- Prior expertise with biotech/med device instrument sourcing
- Strong negotiation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- MS in engineering, Supply Chain or a related scientific discipline
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Contracting / supply agreement experience
- Good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of SAP and ERP / MRP systems a plus
- Ability to travel domestic and internationally
