UX Research Intern

About you:  

You have a curious nature and keep abreast of newdevelopments or ideas gaining momentum in the business. You want to know how and why people use technology and understand how they imagine better ways of working. You interject yourselves into the conversation to ask questions that help others clarify any problems, assumptions and risks. You are outgoing, a people’s person, can put people at ease and are easy to talk to. You are curious and want to help your team answer their toughest questions by learning from others and working together.

You will work across different product teams to provide insights derived. You will also engage in spreading UX research concepts across the company alongside the larger UX team. You are passionate about participatinga research driven culture.

Requirements:

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant undergraduate program (BA/BS) or graduate program (Masters'/PhD)

  • Located in Ontario, preferably in the GTA or KW area (Toronto or Kitchener-Waterloo)

  • Conducting usability test on existing products and prototypes  

  • Experience with primary and secondary research methods 

  • Engaging with designers, product teams, challenges and specific software to uncover user insights 

  • Setting up quantitative, qualitative methodologies 

  • Presenting information to others (to the design team/business stakeholders) 

  • Assisting with data synthesis and insights gathering

  • Participating in brainstorming sessions 

  • Conducting literature reviews & Recording/transcribing data 

  • A willingness to try new experiences and a love of learning. 

  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, graphical) 

Some of the other things we care about: 

  • Display empathy and curiosity when conducting research.

  • Knowledge of user-centered design methodologies 

  • Conduct various UX research and testing methods, both generative and evaluative (e.g., usability testing, persona development, journey mapping, surveys, etc.) and compile results and data and presenting back to the development

  • Experience with primary research is an invaluable bonus.
