Job Summary

This position is responsible for manufacturing cutting-edge recombinant protein research products in Molecular Cellular Immunology (MCI) group. The recombinant manufacturing associate will be involved in different stages of production of various recombinant protein products, which include recombinant protein expression and purification. The duties include preparing buffer solutions and cell culture media, performing bacterial cultures, affinity purifying recombinant proteins, and performing DNA isolation according to standard operating procedures.

He or She may have additional responsibilities including transferring the products to other groups for testing, preparing product/project-related documentation, and maintaining the inventory and record for recombinant protein products.

Essential Functions

  • Perform DNA isolation (mini prep) needed to begin a bacterial culture project.
  • Prepare various buffers for experiments, including cell culture media and dialysis buffers.
  • Perform transformation and culture of bacterial cells (1-20 liters).
  • Process the culture supernatant/cell pellet/inclusion body, followed by extensive processing of the supernatant/cell pellet/inclusion body or diafiltration to extract or refold raw protein bulk.
  • Support purifying recombinant protein by means of affinity tag purification; Xa cut and reverse Ni-NTA purification.
  • Monitor processing by SDS-PAGE for varied protein production stages.
  • Perform bulk processing (concentration, dilution, buffer change), purity analysis, and endotoxin removal
  • Support inventory management of raw material and plasmid constructs for protein production
  • Assist in transferring products across different departments for QC or other inventory-related activities.
  • Maintain batch records and other documentation that are essential to be in compliance with ISO13485:2016
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and manage supplies.
  • Other projects or responsibilities as may be required.

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Life Science or related area with 6+ months of working experience in related biotech product development or manufacturing

Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience

  • Experience in suspended E. coli culture.
  • Experienced in purification and formulation of recombinant protein or antibody.
  • Experienced in Product development or manufacturing under ISO/GMP environment.

The base salary range for this full-time position is$29.00 - 33.00/hr.This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. 

Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company. This base pay range does not take into account bonuses, equity, or other benefits which may be applicable and are dependent on the level and position offered.
