Flow Core Technician I

The Flow Core Technician (Lab Assistant) will work closely with the Flow Core Manager to maintain all flow cytometer instruments in proper working condition. The person in this position will be responsible for the morning daily QC verification, troubleshooting problems with sample acquisition, scheduling service, ordering supplies, stocking and organizing, making buffers, and updating internal databases with proper documentation for all cytometers and microscopes. The Flow Core Technician (Lab Assistant) will also help with some laboratory testing either with Flow Core Manager special projects or with QC team as need, or any other duties as necessary.

**Must be an early morning person with start time no later than 7 am. Must be available Monday thru Friday from 7 am till 3:30pm, and work five 8 hour shifts. This position is not qualified for four 10 hour shifts (10x4 schedule).

Essential Functions

  • Working in a BSL2 environment; thereby taking all laboratory safety precautions
  • Perform daily cleaning of flow cytometers.
  • Perform daily performance verification tests on all cytometers using QC beads.
  • Perform daily check of startup and shutdown solutions.
  • Support microscope maintenance as needed
  • Generate daily QC reports and update database.
  • Stain cell samples and acquire data on cytometer.
  • Update internal consumables inventory list, and re-order as needed.
  • Make and restock buffer solutions.
  • Help maintain lab cleanliness
  • Troubleshoot cytometer/microscope problems and call for service when necessary.
  • Remove old testing data from cytometer computers.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications - Education and Experience 

  • High School Diploma
  • >6 months prior lab, facilities, or warehouse experience

Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience

  • Biotech Certificate or Associate's degree in a science or related field
  • Strong competency with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Navision System (NAV) or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Ability to update databases timely and accurately
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational and documentation skills, and the ability to correctly update internal databases

The base salary range for this full-time position is $22-$23/Hour. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company. This base pay range does not take into account bonuses, equity, or other benefits which may be applicable and are dependent on the level and position offered.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a laboratory environment with occasional data entry on a computer. Occasional exposure to a warehouse environment.
