Job Summary
BioLegend is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate III or Scientist I to join our team to develop reagents for immunological assays. This job will be involved in developing new products for magnetic cell separation and cell stimulation related applications. This person will have opportunities to independently drive research projects from conception to completion, requiring interaction with multi-disciplinary teams. The successful candidate must be a self-motivated, team player, able to communicate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team and must possess excellent organization skills.
Essential Functions

- Primary cell preparation and culture
- Development and optimization of assays aimed at cell isolation and cell analysis, including cell separation, immunofluorescence staining and cell function.
- Identify and implement new assay technologies that have an impact on assay throughput and/or performance
- Independently analyze flow cytometry data using FlowJo and/or FCS express
- Analyze experimental data, prepare report and present it to supervisor and/or department for discussion
- Maintain clear and accurate experimental records, and entry information in relevant databases as needed per company policy and ISO requirements
- Keep all of the experimental records
- Maintain facilities, lab equipment, and supplies as needed
- Promote a safe and compliant work environment
- Take on other projects or responsibilities as required
Minimum Qualifications – Education and Experience
- M.S. Degree plus 3-5 years of experience within Immunology or related field OR
- PhD in life sciences plus at least 2 years postdoctoral training in immunology, cancer biology or related areas
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with flow cytometry
Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience
- Experience with human and mouse primary cell preparation, tissue culture, and immunofluorescence staining
- Professional experience with flow cytometry
- Experience in cell separation is highly preferred
- Experience using FlowJo and/or FCS Express is desired
- Working experience with magnetic cell separation kits
- Experience in cell-based assays (e.g., cell activation, proliferation, and differentiation)
- Experience using BD FACSCanto II or similar flow cytometers is a plus
- Hands-on experience in an academic or industry lab environment
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Highly motivated and self-driven with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a laboratory environment with occasional data entry on a computer. Occasional exposure to a warehouse environment.

The hourly pay for this position will vary by level, as we are open to considering candidates at Research Associate III or Scientist I depending on experience and qualifications. Each level has a corresponding range that reflects the appropriate scope of responsibilities and expectations. The anticipated hourly range for a Research Associate III this role is $26.00–$34.85 per hour. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company. This base pay range does not takeinto account bonuses, equity, or other benefits which may be applicable and are dependent on the level and position offered.
