Job Summary
The Flow Cytometry Scientist will join our fast-growing, dynamic, and collaborative Product Development team in San Diego. This scientist will actively participate in stages of product development, validation, and Quality Control of new products. These will include, but not limited to, identifying new targets, developing and validating new antibodies and other reagents, establish and implement methods for QC testing.
Job functions will include, but not limited to, researching literature, participating in the evaluation, optimization, and realization of new products, designing and executing experiments, analyzing and reporting data, and managing projects. This is a bench-scientist position. Hands-on activities will include handling and dissecting small animals (mice or rats), preparing cells from animal tissue or human blood, or culturing primary cells or established cell lines, performing flow cytometry and other immunoassays such as immunohistochemistry, ELISA, or Western Blotting, performing molecular biology, cell biology, or biochemistry assays, analyzing and reporting data, and maintaining accurate documentations.
Essential Functions

- Handle small animals, such as mice or rats, collect blood and/or tissue samples, prepare single-cell suspensions
- Handle human specimens such as blood, isolate PBMC and subpopulations from human blood
- Maintain cultures of mammalian cell lines
- Perform and analyze flow cytometry experiments
- Perform other immunological and biochemical assays, such as ELISA, IHC/IF staining, Western Blotting, etc
- Independently analyze data (including using FlowJo and/or FCS express for flow cytometry data) prepare reports, present to internal and external departments
- Perform molecular biology experiments, such as nuclear acid isolation, PCR, cloning, transfection, etc
- Under supervision, research, design, and execute experiments according to project requirements
- Maintain clear and accurate documentation following company policies and ISO requirements
- Plan and track multiple projects simultaneously; pro-actively complete assigned tasks
- Maintain facilities, lab equipment, and supplies as needed
- Other projects or responsibilities as may be required.
Minimum Qualifications – Education and Experience
- PhD degree in Life Sciences related fields, preferably in immunology, cell biology, or cancer research
- 2-3 years of hands-on experience with tissue culture and flow cytometry
Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience
- Postdoctoral research experience is preferred, but not required.
The base salary range for this full-time position is $45,000 - 50,000 annual. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company. This base pay range does not take into account bonuses, equity, or other benefits which may be applicable and are dependent on the level and position offered.
