Job Summary

The Scientist in Exploratory R&D will be responsible for process development and improvement. In particular, he/she will be involved in optimization and troubling of cell culture processes, in order to establish a consistent and improved cell culture method for primary cells, hybridoma cell lines and other relevant cell types. This role will also support new product development for cell culture applications, such as media and supplements. Knowledge of process development in small and large scale is a plus.

  • Design and conduct technical, laboratory-based experiments.
  • Troubleshoot and conduct process improvements of cell culture and related ancillary products in collaboration with R&D, Product Development and Manufacturing teams.
  • Create ISO compliant documentation and train colleagues on new processes in a GMP environment.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced, goal-driven settings.
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with teams including R&D, Product Development, Manufacturing, and Quality Control.
  • Other projects or responsibilities as may be required.

Minimum Qualifications – Education and Experience

  • B.S. with more than 12 yrs of biotechnology industry working experience OR
  • M.S. with more than 6 yrs of biotechnology industry working experience OR
  • Ph.D. with 2-4 years or more of biotechnology industry working experience

Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience

  • PhD in the life sciences with a minimum of 2-4 years relevant industry experience, preferentially in immunology, cell biology, and/or biotechnology fields, or Master’s Degree and 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in cell culture medium development and characterization.
  • Expertise in mammalian cell isolation, expansion and process development as related to cell and gene bioprocessing methods.
  • Experience with flow cytometry and immunological techniques desired.
  • Experience working in a GMP environment.
  • Experience managing and supervising research associates.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a laboratory environment with occasional data entry on a computer. Occasional exposure to a warehouse environment.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $80,000.00 - $100,000.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company. This base pay range does not take into account bonuses, equity, or other benefits which may be applicable and are dependent on the level and position offered.
