Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Logistics Specialist - Import Operations to manage and optimize the importation of critical materials for our biotechnology operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring timely and compliant delivery of biological reagents, lab equipment, and other specialized goods from international suppliers. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of global trade regulations, cold chain logistics, and the unique challenges of importing materials for biotech research and manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end import processes, including documentation, customs clearance, and coordination with freight forwarders and customs brokers

  • Ensure all import activities comply with international trade regulations, including HTS classification, Incoterms, and biosafety standards. Maintain accurate records for audits and regulatory reviews

  • Liaise with international suppliers and logistics providers to schedule shipments, track deliveries, and resolve delays or discrepancies

  • As part of the logistics team work with temperature-sensitive and hazardous materials, ensuring proper packaging, labelling, and transit conditions

  • Provide support to the logistics team on exportation as required for day-to-day activities

  • Collaborate with procurement and inventory teams to align inbound shipments with production schedules. Update ERP systems with shipment and delivery data.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline import processes, reduce costs, and improve delivery reliability.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, or related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in import logistics, preferably within the biotech, pharmaceutical, or life sciences sector.

  • Strong knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and trade compliance.

  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and logistics tracking tools.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
