Job Summary

BioLegend is looking for a Biochemist to be an integral member of a team that manufactures and provides antibodies and reagents to a diverse set of research areas. The Biochemist will report to a team lead and will ensure the highest quality of our finalized products. In this position you will follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)s, manufacture and deliver magnetic beads and related products, and cross train on a variety of other supporting tasks.

This Biochemist works with Mojo manufacturing team. The main responsibility for this position will be to perform manufacturing and protein coating of magnetic nanobeads, prepare and formulate related beads and antibody reagents according to established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cell separation applications. Other duties will include completion of appropriate batch record forms, updating relevant databases and other lab duties.

Essential Functions

  • Completing production orders following SOPs and batch records
  • Perform synthesis and protein coating of magnetic nanoparticles
  • Perform centrifugation, protein chromatography, protein/iron quantification assays, spectroscopy and DLS
  • Prepare buffers, dilutions and formulate antibody reagents and magnetic particles. Perform basic math calculations to calculate the amount of antibodies, nanoparticles and concentrations
  • Maintenance of laboratory instruments, lab supplies, and cleaning glassware
  • Other projects or responsibilities as may be required.

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience

  • Associate’s degree in scientific discipline with 2 years biotechnology industry experience OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in scientific discipline

Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience

  • Direct work experience in beads preparation and/or bioconjugation
  • 1-year or more lab experience in a manufacturing or research setting
  • Familiarity with basic lab equipment and knowledge of lab safety protocols
  • Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented, organized and work well

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a laboratory environment with occasional data entry on a computer. Occasional exposure to a warehouse environment.

The hourly pay for this position will vary by level, as we are open to considering candidates at Levels I or II depending on experience and qualifications. Each level has a corresponding range that reflects the appropriate scope of responsibilities and expectations. The anticipated hourly range for this role is $20.50–$33.00 per hour. ​The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. 

Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company. This base pay range does not take into account bonuses, equity, or other benefits which may be applicable and are dependent on the level and position offered.
