Research Associate III - Cell Analysis

At BioLegend we develop novel, cutting edge products and offer custom services to help with scientific innovation and discovery.  We are currently looking for a talented, detail-oriented person to join our growing Product Development team.  The potential candidate will assist with development of new products for cell analysis such as antibodies, multi-color panels, and reagents for analysis of cell metabolism and cell imaging. The successful candidate must be a self-motivated team player, able to communicate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team and must possess excellent organization skills.

Essential Functions

  • Design and execute experiments to test products for biological research with emphasis on immunoassays and flow cytometry
  • Identify and implement new assay immunological assays that have an impact on assay throughput and/or performance
  • Independently analyze flow cytometry data using FlowJo and/or FCS express
  • Analyze experimental data, prepare report and present it to supervisor and/or department for discussion
  • Maintain clear and accurate experimental records, and entry information in relevant databases as needed per company policy and ISO requirements
  • Ability to plan and track multiple projects simultaneously and pro-actively complete assigned tasks
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture is required
  • Perform other duties as needed
  • Keep all the experimental records
  • Promote a safe and compliant work environment

  • Maintain facilities, lab equipment, and supplies as needed

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience

  • BS Degree in a Life Sciences related area.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience working in a lab environment in academia or industry.
  • 3+ years in aseptic technique and tissue culture of primary cells and cell lines.
  • 3+Hands-on experience in sample preparation and data acquisition on Flow cytometer.

Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience

  • MS degree
  • Experience with human and mouse primary cell preparation, tissue culture, and immunofluorescence staining. 
  • Professional experience with flow cytometry.
  • Experience using FlowJo and/or FCS express is desired.
  • Working experience with magnetic cell separation kits
  • Experience in cell-based assays e.g. cell activation, proliferation and differentiation, etc.
  • Experience using BD’s Canto II or similar flow cytometers is a plus
  • Highly organized with attention to detail and capable of working independently and as part of a team.
  • Hands-on experience in cell-based assays e.g. cell activation, proliferation, differentiation, polarization

Work Environment & Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a laboratory environment with occasional data entry on a computer. Occasional exposure to a warehouse environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $32-39/hour. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. 

Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company. This base pay range does not take into account bonuses, equity, or other benefits which may be applicable and are dependent on the level and position offered.
