About the Opportunity
As a result of ongoing growth within the Preclinical Services at Revvity Cambridge (formerly Horizon Discovery) we have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Scientist team working on our state-of-the-art pooled CRISPR-Cas9 screening platform. Working within an inclusive environment, you will use CRISPR-Cas9 technologies to identify novel gene-gene and drug-gene interactions for target ID and patient stratification, for our clients.
For this lab-based Senior Scientist role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and delivering innovative and complex pooled CRISPR screening assays in cell-based model systems. Successful candidates will have a strong R&D background, are highly self-motivated, able to work to tight timelines and are comfortable working in a dynamic, collaborative, environment.
In this role you will:
Independently plan and perform complex pooled CRISPR-Cas9 screening experiments in accordance with project aims and specification, with minimal supervision
Engage with customers and Revvity colleagues on a scientific level to understand research requirements and successfully deliver data that answers the key scientific questions
Interpret experimental data, troubleshoot, discuss results and identify next steps.
Prepare high quality client facing data packages and reports, clearly disseminating the results of your work
Maintain an awareness of current and emerging techniques / technologies and apply these to your research
Guide and mentor other team members
Follow and give instructions, comply with company policies and be an effective team member pro-actively supporting the research and development functions in Revvity.
About You:
To succeed in this role, you will need:
A minimum of four years relevant work experience after PhD or equivalent experience.
A strong background in a relevant disease area and the ability to quickly learn new techniques and areas of biology
Extensive experience of mammalian cell culture, excellent aseptic technique and performing various cell-based assays, such as those commonly employed at Revvity.
Proven experience and enthusiasm for using, adapting and developing cell-based screening assays
Proven ability to disseminate research results e.g. in reports, presentations and peer reviewed journal publications
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
Flexible and able to work in a dynamic environment
Excellent planning/organizational skills with a careful and meticulous nature
Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records
Follow and give instructions, and comply with company policies
You may also have:
Experience of high-throughput assays, use of automation, scripting (for example in R or Python etc) and handling large datasets including data QC, analysis, generating relevant graphical representations
Experience with transfection, transduction and techniques to modulate gene expression in mammalian cell models e.g. CRISPR-Cas9, siRNA, shRNA etc.
Safe handling and production of lentiviral reagents
Experience of working in an industrial setting
