BioLegend's Summer Internship Program is a 10-12-week experience intended to offer aspiring biotech professionals a meaningful, comprehensive understanding of the biotechnology industry sector at one of the world's leading producers of antibodies and reagent content development.

**The program will run June 20-September 6th (depending on individual’s University Academic Calendar)

**This internship will be an on-site role at BioLegend Inc. in San Diego, CA.All selected interns will be required to obtain their own housing, travel, and transportation accommodations for the full duration of the internship program.

Internship Summary

The internship for the Cell Analysis -Flow/Imaging group offers the opportunity to gain experience for developing novel reagents for the detection of biomarkers, cell phenotypes and metabolic processes. The intern will use flow cytometry and live cell imaging to determine cell phenotypes, biomarkers, and cellular processes. Upon completion of this program, the intern will possess solid knowledge of antibody development, and real-world experience of cell culture, primary cells preparation, immunofluorescence staining, multicolor flow cytometry, and live cell imaging. 

Potential equipment used during the internship includes various types of flow cytometer, fluorescent microscopes, cell counter, plate reader.

Essential Functions

Prepare and stain samples (human or mouse cells) for flow cytometry, follow standard operating procedures

  • Analyze samples on flow cytometer,
  • Data analysis and interpretation
  • Fill out documentation and required associated with assigned projects, maintain laboratory records
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Other projects or responsibilities as may be required.

Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience

  • Currently enrolled or in process of completing a BS/BA degree in life sciences related program
  • Minimum of 6 months laboratory experience (classroom setting or other)

Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience

  • Knowledge of cell culture, handling of tissue or blood samples
  • Knowledge of microscopy, fluorescence staining, antibody applications

The base salary range for the Summer Internship position is:

a. $22.00/hr – Sophomore/Freshman standing (Class of 2028/2029)
b. $23.00/hr – Junior standing (Class of 2027)
c. $24.00/hr – Senior Standing (Completing December 2025/Class of 2026)
d. $25.00 – $26.00/hr – current Master’s student (already has B.S. degree)

This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
